Privacy Policy

Candor is operated by Fonseca Digital LLC ("Candor", "we", "us", or "our"), an Iowa limited liability company. Candor helps you find the right words for difficult conversations. We built the app to be private by default: you don't create an account, and the situations you describe stay on your device except when they're sent to generate a message. This policy explains what we collect, how it's used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
What you type. When you describe a situation (in Quick or Guided mode) and tap Generate, the text you entered is sent to our AI provider through our secure server so it can write message suggestions back to you. This text is used to create your results — not to build a profile of you.
Stored on your device. Your generation history is saved locally on your device so the app can show your recent messages. This information stays on your device — we don't upload it to our servers.
Purchases. Subscriptions are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of whether your subscription is active, but we never see your card number or billing details.
What we don't collect. We don't ask for your name, email, or phone number to use the app. We don't collect your contacts or location, we don't use advertising identifiers, and we don't run third-party advertising or tracking.
How your messages are generated
To create suggestions, the text you submit is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (the maker of Claude). Requests are routed through our own secure server so that access keys are never stored in the app. Anthropic processes the request to generate a response and, under its commercial terms, does not use the content of these requests to train its models. We send only the text needed to generate your messages — nothing that identifies you personally.
How we use information
- To generate the message variations you request.
- To show your recent results within the app.
- To process and restore subscriptions through the app stores.
- To diagnose problems and keep the app working reliably.
Data retention
The text you submit is processed to generate your results and is not retained by us afterward. Your history and usage data remain on your device until you clear your history in the app or uninstall it, either of which deletes them.
Sharing
We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers needed to run the app: Anthropic (to generate messages) and Apple or Google (to process subscriptions). We may disclose information if required by law.
Security
Requests to our AI provider are encrypted in transit, and API keys are held on our server rather than inside the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Children's privacy
Candor is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and rights
Because your history lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing your history in Settings or by uninstalling the app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access or delete personal information — contact us and we'll help.
International users
Our AI processing may take place on servers located in the United States. By using the app, you understand that your submitted text may be processed there to generate your results.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app.
