Terms of Service

Candor is operated by Fonseca Digital LLC ("Candor", "we", "us", or "our"), an Iowa limited liability company. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Candor mobile app and website. By downloading or using Candor, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

What Candor is

Candor helps you find the right words for difficult conversations. You describe a situation, and the app uses artificial intelligence to suggest message variations in different tones. The suggestions are starting points for you to review, edit, and decide whether to send — you are always the author of what you actually say, and you are responsible for the messages you choose to send and their consequences.

Not professional advice

Candor is a writing aid for everyday conversations. It does not provide legal, medical, financial, or mental-health advice, and its suggestions are not a substitute for guidance from a qualified professional. If you need professional advice, please consult a qualified professional. If you are in crisis or may be in danger, contact your local emergency services or a crisis hotline.

Subscriptions and billing

Full access to Candor requires a paid subscription:

• Auto-renewing monthly subscription. Billing is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never see or store your payment details. The price is shown in the app before you subscribe and may vary by country.
• 7-day free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins and your app store account is charged. Unless it's canceled, the subscription renews automatically each month.
• Canceling. You can cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period (or trial), and you keep access until then. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds. Purchases are subject to the refund policies of Apple and Google. Refund requests are made through the store you purchased from.

Acceptable use

Use Candor only for lawful purposes. You agree not to use it to create content that is unlawful, or to harass, threaten, defraud, or deceive others; not to attempt to probe, overload, or gain unauthorized access to our servers; not to reverse-engineer the app except where the law permits; and not to resell or redistribute the service. We apply reasonable usage safeguards (such as rate limits) to keep the service reliable for everyone, and we may suspend access that violates these Terms or threatens the service.

Genuine installs. The service is available only through the official Candor app installed from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Our servers use device and app integrity checks (such as Apple App Attest and Google Play Integrity) to confirm requests come from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app, and we may refuse requests that fail these checks. Modified, repackaged, or sideloaded copies of the app are not supported and may not work.

Your content and our rights

You own the text you type into Candor, and you're free to use the message suggestions the app generates for you — personally or professionally — without attribution to us. The app itself, including its design, code, branding, and content (excluding your inputs and your generated messages), belongs to Fonseca Digital LLC and is protected by intellectual-property laws.

AI-generated content

Suggestions are generated by artificial intelligence and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or a poor fit for your situation. We make no guarantee about the quality, accuracy, or outcome of any suggestion or of any conversation you have using one. Always review a suggestion and use your own judgment before sending anything.

Privacy

How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Candor is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fonseca Digital LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app or from any message you send. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes to the service or these Terms

We may add, change, or remove features over time, and we may update these Terms. When we make material changes, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app. Continuing to use Candor after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Termination

You can stop using Candor at any time. We may suspend or end access to the service for use that violates these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual-property rights, disclaimers, and liability limits) survive termination.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Iowa, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
